6 Ways to Keep Your Resolve and Achieve Your Goals ...

MomsGetReal Guest Contributor Madyson Grant

stick to resolutionsJanuary is almost over, and while we?re all starting to look forward to Superbowl (or Superbowl ads), Valentine?s Day, and Spring Break, there?s something that will inevitably happen first:

You will give up on your New Year?s resolutions. (If you made them at all!)

Now is the time of year when people start to give up on their resolutions (or non-resolution health goals). Many people set resolutions for themselves but often find it more difficult than they expected to actually stick with the them. While keeping a New Year?s resolution can be hard to do at times, there are some tips and techniques for sticking with them.

1. Write your resolution down on paper. When people make resolutions in their mind, they may mean well, but they often forget about the resolution after the New Year actually arrives. Writing it down on paper is a good way for you to remember the resolution you have set for yourself, and to ultimately keep that resolution.

2. Create a plan for your resolution. You can print booklets with SmartPress.com to keep the plan on hand to help motivate you to work on achieving your resolution, whether you are looking to lose weight, eat healthier, or even pursue a new career.

3. Keep track of the progress you make. To motivate you to keep going, keep track of the progress you are making toward reaching your resolution. For example, if you are trying to lose weight, you can weigh yourself once a week and record your progress, or you can start a food diary.

4. Find someone with similar goals. When you find someone who has a similar goals or resolutions, you can help one another stay motivated. Help each other resist temptation and stay motivated.

5. Create a routine for yourself. Get into a routine that will help you achieve your goals. If you have to, pencil time in for yourself on the calendar.

6. Remember the reason for your resolution. Life gets in the way. Find a way to remind yourself why the resolution was important in the first place (a dream board, a picture of the outfit you want).

Even if your resolve has already slipped on your resolutions, you can always restart. Self improvement is a lifetime goal not just reserved for the New Year.
