Perform all aspects of public affairs with exposure to internal and external communications, member relations, public outreach, research, project work, legislative relations, media relations, crisis communications, marketing and other duties as assigned. Develop and maintain mutually beneficial relationships with power utility, related industry and EN member audiences. Work under the guidance and mentoring of senior public affairs professionals in a dynamic team environment. In support of this role, will maintain information currency on all key company activities, programs, industry-related legislation, news and events. Efforts will be in alignment with approved strategic public affairs plans with clearly identified desired outcomes, within a broad range of internal and external public affairs disciplines. Provide expertise to identify communication needs, present ideas, and execute assigned tasks. Will be expected to write and edit proficiently in journalistic AP style; maintain and build relationships with internal audiences, key industry organizations and personnel; apply public affairs experience to assess communications climate within the agency. Products will also directly support programs to enhance two-way communication with employees. Works closely with other departments to identify, recommend, develop, and implement cost-effective solutions in support of public affairs' needs. Assists with media relations activities which may include serving as a company spokesperson to the news media and public on all issues. Advise senior management on member utility needs and concerns. Frequent weekly/monthly travel may be required.
